Hi! I’m Pauline, the founder and editor of Manchester Pocket Guide.
I am a travel writer and digital marketing specialist who loves discovering Manchester.
Originally from France, I moved to the UK in 2015 and made Manchester my home in 2018.
I immediately fell in love with Manchester and it became obvious, very quickly, that I was there to stay.
There are so many things I loved about Manchester, such as:
- The history. I went on dozens of walking tours in Manchester and love learning about the Industrial Revolution, the Suffragette, the music scene and all these things that have made the city famous.
- How lively it is. Manchester is such a lively city. There is always something going on, from events to live music.
- The proximity with some of the most beautiful places in the UK. How lucky are we to be so close to the Peak District (first national park in the UK!), the seaside, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales… We can explore so many stunning places from Manchester and I love that.
- How well connected it is. We have one of the largest airport in the UK, several train stations (the train to London is not even 3 hours long) and direct access to the motorways.

But most importantly, the thing I love the most about Manchester is the people. The Mancunians themselves!
They are so friendly and so welcoming! They definitely make the city the place that it is.
After spending years discovering our beautiful city, I thought it was time to share all my knowledge with you!
Whether you are also a Manchester local or just visiting for the weekend, you will find plenty of useful info here.
I spend a lot of time researching all these experiences, work with local companies to make sure I put together the best content possible and more important, I share my experiences of all these activities that I’ve tried.
It’s also important to note that I go around to most places with my dog so if you are interested in knowing more about the best things to do in Manchester with a dog, you’ve come to the right place.
