If you’ve been looking for fun things to do with friends in Manchester, then this is an idea you are going to love!

I recently went to Sixes Social Cricket Bar in the Corn Exchange and it was so much fun!

It’s a great place to go with your friends. Between the games and the drinks, you can be sure to have a fun evening (or afternoon).

What is Sixes Social Cricket?

Sixes Social Cricket is an activity bar in Manchester city centre where you can play cricket. The bar offers all the regular drinks, unique cocktails and they also serve food.

It’s located by the Cathedral and is part of the Corn Exchange. It’s very easy to get there on foot or with the tram since Exchange Square Metrolink stop is only 1 minute walk from there.

What can do you there?

Obviously the main thing to do here is to play cricket.

Basically, you need to book your slot online. Prices start at £7 per person and include at least 30 minutes in the batting net.

The length of the slot depends on the number of people you are booking for but basically, they will give at least 10 minutes per person.

So if you are 2-3 people, you can book a slot of 30 minutes. For 4 people, it will have to be minimum 45 minutes.

How do you play?

When you get there, a member of staff will take you to your batting net and explain the rules and how it works.

There is a tablet at each net where you can choose the type of game you want to play and the level of each player.

The ball will then be thrown and you have to hit it and try to get one of the numbers (ideally the sixes).

Do you need any experience to play?

No, not at all. You don’t even need to know the rules of cricket to play. The staff will tell you what you need to know and it’s very straight forward after.

You also don’t have to all agree on a level of difficulty. Each player can choose which level to play at.

Tips to enjoy your visit at Sixes Social Cricket Bar

Here are some of my recommendations to enjoy the experience to the maximum.

  • Check the availability for off peak slots because it’s a lot cheaper. Off-peak times varies but to give you an example, Sundays after 5PM usually is off-peak and prices are half of what they are for the same thing in the afternoon.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Technically you can play with anything but it’s a lot more comfortable with good shoes.
  • Try out different games and levels to make the experience more exciting.
  • Book two slots. One slot is good and it’s long enough to try but you usually really get into it by the end of the first game so if you can book two games, I’d do so.

I hope this article was useful and that it has given you a new idea for an activity with your friends! Have fun!
